TITLE: LINUX TECHNICAL ANALYST

Job Description
Function
This position is responsible for the support, troubleshooting, monitoring and maintenance of a 7X24 VMS/Linux environment.
? Developing and maintaining complex strategic/tactical/budget plans
? Developing and maintaining standards for the server hardware and related components topology
Responsibilities
Design, install, administer and optimize Linux servers and related components to achieve high availability and high performance of the various business applications supported.
? Designs, develops and reports on best practice metrics
? Acts as the primary liaison between equipment/maintenance vendors and IT for issues related to server and storage hardware.
? Maintain annual support contracts for OpenVMS/Linux servers hardware/software.
? Ensures that expenditures stay within established budgets.
? Is available on-call
This is an OpenVMS/Linux shop ? where you will be required to learn and look after the Open VMS system
Qualifications
? Advanced knowledge of and experience in Linux is required
? Linux administration experience in a high-availability, mission-critical environment is required
? Advanced knowledge of server operating systems, engineering, design, vendor equipment, and related networking services.
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as good conceptual and organizational skills with the ability to understand end-user needs.
? Previous experience establishing and maintaining annual capital and operating budgets for the Linux and VMS environment that meet business needs.
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with ability to make independent judgments
